Old Spot (Rowan Piggott and Joe Danks) and Jeri Foreman & Ruth Eliza spent 2023 providing fiddle and banjo duos to festivals and venues throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Sugarwell Hill are a three piece, and part of the same exciting new movement in Old Time in the UK. All of them are highly respected throughout the country as individual musicians, with numerous other credits to their names. All find common ground in Appalachian Old Time Music, the historic sound of multiple cultures meeting in the New World (indigenous, colonial and slaves), which has seen both duos researching through archives, as well as writing new music in the traditional style. Old Spot started playing together in 2022 and have toured extensively, proving themselves as an entrancing act throughout England. Jeri Foreman and Ruth Eliza debuted as a duo in 2023 and spent that summer preaching the good word of old time music at bluegrass festivals. This pair of duos will join forces this winter for a some very special shows, featuring short sets by each act, intimate musical conversations between close friends, followed by a messy old time party on stage, spilling into a session in the bar. (Bring your instruments!) Gorgeous playing and maximum enthusiasm for the genre – it's an exciting time for British old time music!
