Event information

Sunday, 11.25am: This event is now completely booked up.
As many of the reservations are for free tickets, and the weather's a bit grim today, it's possible that some people who've booked won't turn up. So there might be a few seats available on the door, once all ticket holders have been admitted. This cannot be guaranteed! But if you'd like to take that chance, do come along before 3pm, and be prepared to wait outside.
Sorry for any disappointment.

Hosted by Wild Card http://wildcard.land/ which writes:
“The recent independent review into the management of protected wildlife sites on Dartmoor reported that “Dartmoor is not in a good state”. Come and join us to discuss how, together, we can restore nature on Dartmoor.”

Wild Card is hosting a panel of nature conservationists, farmers, policymakers and landowners to discuss key questions about reversing nature’s fortunes on Dartmoor and what needs to be done.

Chair: Miles King, After a 30 year career in nature conservation, working for a wide range of organisations and as a consultant, Miles King set up People Need Nature in 2015 to promote the emotional, sensory and spiritual value of nature, and celebrate the value of nature in people’s everyday lives

Panel:

Guy Shrubsole, Environmental campaigner and author, ‘The Lost Rainforests of Britain’
Sue Everett, Environmental land management adviser and panel member on the recent Dartmoor Review of Protected Sites.
Naomi Oakley, Dartmoor Farmer
Morag Angus, South West Peatland Partnership Manager
Tony Whitehead, Dartmoor environmental campaigner
Nick Bruce-White, the CEO of Devon wildlife trust*

******************

We will be asking the questions;

What practical action can be taken to reverse the historical decline of wildlife on Dartmoor?

What good work is being done currently, what are the opportunities, and what are the challenges?

What can individuals do - whether they be farmers, professional nature conservationists, policymakers or members of the public who simply have a passion for Dartmoor and want to see the land healed?

And how do we all work together?

******************

We want to have as wide a conversation as possible, and so for those unable to make it in person, we will be live-streaming the event.

Dartmoor is loved by so many, and with the protected sites review published, now is the time to work together to ensure a bright future for nature on Dartmoor!”

Admission free, or by donations which will be shared between Wild Card and Ashburton Arts Centre

* John Howell is no longer available and has been replaced on the panel by Nick Bruce-White
