Sing about beauty in the heart surrounded by madness of the world, about finding one’s own solid ground to stand on, strength in the voice to carry on singing and the power to move forward - IN YIDDISH! Workshop time: 2-4pm.
Yiddish songs describe the diverse lives of Jewish people across Eastern and Central Europe. They speak about people’s everyday life, friendship, love, celebrations and solidarity. We’ll focus on how international this music is and explore songs with connections to neighbouring cultures. Open to all.
No knowledge of Yiddish language or music reading skills are needed.
Led by Polina Skovoroda-Shepherd, one of the leading musicians in this field, an internationally acclaimed performer, educator and cultural activist.
Come and have lunch or snacks and drinks at the cafe beforehand, there is a great menu.
