Having carved herself a formidable reputation as a cult artist on the alt-folk scene she is disarmingly engaging as a live performer with a natural wit and charm that sweeps the audience along to a heartwarming conclusion. Songs of pirates, post-mortem revenge, Mexican cuisine and mortality pepper her sets alongside the occasional breathtaking cover from the less-travelled pathways. Seeing Amelia solo may be an increasingly rare treat, for now, as she embarks on a headline tour with a full band. In more intimate settings the folk and jazz aspects of her writing and performance leap to the fore.
