This immersive theatrical promenade takes Shakespeare's London working life back to its roots. Led by professional actor guide, meeting by Cannon Street Station, north of the river, to view the world renowned Globe theatre, tracing its story backwards to its place of inception in Shoreditch via key points in the history of the Elizabethan Renaissance Theatre and Playhouses. Combining storytelling, with performances, the actor guide will recount the history of the first ever British theatre, including appropriate Shakespearian speeches and quotes at key points on the walk, packed with history, literature, theatricality, comedy, tragedy, fact, fiction and drama. but also includes modern sights and sounds, cultural references, superb street art in Shoreditch, an exciting cut through the Barbican estate, and crosses boundaries and genres on the way. A 2 hour 30 minute tour includes a 20 minute interval at the Barbican Arts Centre, home of the Royal Shakespeare Company, ending at New Inn Yard, Shoreditch.

Key sights the Globe Theatre viewed from the north bank Thames path, stunning river views and London skyline, by Blackfriars bridge to the Blackfriars playhouse, passing St Paul's Cathedral, Guildhall and St Mary Le Bow, to John Heminges, Henry Cordell Memorial on Love Lane, remains of the Roman Wall, over the Barbican Highwalk, to the Barbican Centre, with a view of St Giles Cripplegate, continuing to Whitecross Street, Bunhill Fields and crossing the boundary to Shoreditch and the sites of the first Playhouses near Curtain Road. Finishes at New Inn Yard and an optional drink at The Old Blue Last hipster pub by the site of the new Shakespeare Theatre. Guests should bring suitable rainwear, walking shoes, and water. There are stairs and this is a robust walk, so not suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility problems or walking difficulties or who may struggle to keep up with a group.
