Objectives:
The main objective of this event is to explore the relationship between documentary films and conflict. This takes place in the context of academia, where we will be aiming to:
- explore, through discussions, the impact of the film industry on audiences, and the relationships between film makers and their subjects
- provide a forum for offering suggestions on how to enhance/produce socially sensitive and constructive documentary films
- appreciate the role of films in academia – explore positive transfer of knowledge through the practical application of lessons learnt from peace and conflict movies
- diversify and integrate knowledge, ideas and learning methodologies from across disciplines at the University and explore how the University students from across departments can benefit from each others’ skills and experiences
- provide an opportunity for the participants to socialise and have fun
Media and Conflict is being jointly organised by the Department of Peace Studies and Bradford Media School, within the University. The event is funded and supported by the Ecoversity project. The event is designed for Peace Studies and SCIM students but the remaining places will be made available to University staff and students, and interested external parties. Some sections will be available to the wider public.
