Cycle Chesterfield is excited to announce a talk by cycle adventurer and explorer Emily Chappell. This is one of a series of events we are organising during National Bike Week.
Come and see Emily talk about her life on 2 wheels - from her introduction to cycling, her cycling achievements and her recent local cycling advocacy in this area.
Emily's introduction to cycling was as a cycle courier in London. What Goes Around, her first book, tells the story of this adventure, taking us behind the scenes of one of London's most fascinating subcultures.
Emily has cycled across Asia, through Iceland and North America, and ridden tens of thousands of miles around the UK and Europe. She won the prestigious Transcontinental Race in 2016, covering nearly 4,000km across Europe, non-stop and self-supported. Her award-winning second book, Where There's A Will, describes her transformation from courier to ultra-distance racer.
Emily now leads an annual charity ride around the entire route of the Tour de France, and is much in demand as a speaker, journalist and presenter. She is also involved in promoting cycling for all. Her writing has appeared in numerous cycling publications, and in the national press.
POST EVENT BOOK SIGNING
Emily will be selling and signing copies of her 2 books, "Where There's a Will" and "What Goes Around" after her talk. Both books are priced at £9.99 ("What Goes Around retails at £10.99 and has been reduced for this event). You can purchase an advance copy via this website and it can then be collected at the event, and you can then ask Emily to sign it. If not purchased in advance, book purchases on the evening must be by cash or online bank transfer.
RIDE TO THIS EVENT
We will also be guiding a ride from Chesterfield Station to the Venue leaving at 6.25pm and arriving by 6.45pm
