longerr inheritances (curated by Otis Mensah) explores notions of jazz experimentation and what it means to bend genre and artistic expression as Black and artists of Colour. longerr inheritances will propose an expressionistic unveiling and exhibition of untold, mystified artistic practices of Black artists and artists of colour, linking regionality to universality through common diasporian connecting points whilst exploring varying perspectives on the body, dreaming and home through live performance. This programme is interwoven by interdisciplinary practices of live music expression at the intersection of poetry and sound.
longerr inheritances will take place across two venues and events
(Act I) features Berlin-based vocalist and writer douniah who has developed a reputation in the scene for sublime live performances of poetry, sound, dance and modes of experimental music-expression. Agadir-born and Hamburg-raised, douniah engages in the practice of interpreting her spirit, impressively, in German, Darija, and English, threading together the tenets of free-form poetry and romanticism, backdropped by neo-experimental jazz tendencies. ACT I will be headlined by Summer Pearl, music artist from London known for her care-free live performances and to the point lyrics. Summer transcends you to a place of soul and truth exploring black and female liberation, love gained and love lost, heavily influenced by Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, R&B and Reggae.
