An ongoing residency at the Spice of Life for the award winning songwriter Amity

The Spice of Life is a Soho landmark, historic music venue and is in the heart of London's West End.

Renowned for having a great live sound The Spice of Life and Substance have worked together for over 16 years to bring the very best new music to the heart of the capital.

Nightfly
Nightfly is a brand new funk/ soul outfit based in South London. Led by Pianist/ arranger Oliver Parikian, the band draws on a wide range of influences from big band to classic RnB to indie pop.

The band's lineup consists of some of the finest talents of the London conservatoire scene, with the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music, Trinity Laban and Kings College London all represented in the band, as well as organisations such as Tomorrows Warriors, through which various members of the band have performed at events such as Cheltenham Jazz festival.

Fusing classic RnB with modern funk and jazz fusion, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Jamiroquai fans should all be in for a good time

Amity

Amity is an award-winning singer songwriter whose dark, defiant and dramatic sound has earned him the backing of the Royal Albert Hall: they recently named him their 2023 Future Maker.

Described in The Guardian newspaper as bringing together “miraculous” vocals with the “dense surreal lyricism of Regina Spektor”, Amity’s hard-hitting songwriting and emotive performances have earned comparisons to Adele, Nina Simone, and Joni Mitchell in the press, scooping numerous national and international successes, with the SAYS panel of industry judges listing Amity in the UK’s top 30 young songwriters in his category.

Recently awarded Best Singer 2023 by RB Entertainment, his raw, powerhouse voice and vivid, moving lyrics have put him in high demand, being talent scouted by numerous major TV shows on both sides of the Atlantic.

Praised by Durham Magazine as “profound, broody and rebellious”, Amity’s empowering lyrics are imprinted by his drive for justice, inner healing, freedom and an overriding determination to lift up those who are struggling, along the way documenting his own ongoing journey from darkness to light. Amity, who is autistic and queer, has written professionally with Dee Adam (Dido, Kaiser Chiefs, Newton Faulkner) and is currently writing with Andrew Kingslow (John Legend).
