Twisterella Live Presents Charlotte Hatherley.
Charlotte Hatherley is returning to the fore on 19th October with the release of her 3rd Album ‘New Worlds’ to be released through Little Sister Records.
At 15, in London in 1994, Charlotte Hatherley was “a total Britpop kid” obsessed with the melodic eccentricities of Blur via Graham Coxon’s enigmatic guitar, already a beguiling guitar player herself besotted with David Bowie, Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, Talking Heads, Kate Bush, psychedelia, post-punk new wave and the alt-rock mavericks, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth and The Pixies. She was 15 when she answered an ad in the NME for guitarist in teenage riot-grrrl renegades Nightnurse, got the job and unleashed fifteen years of frenetic rock ‘n’ roll bedlam. At 17, she joined the vertically-rising Ash, debuted live at the V97 festival in front of 50,000 people and spent the next eight years inside a globe-spanning punk-pop juggernaut as Ash rollicked round the planet supporting the biggest band in the world, U2 (2005) while becoming an iconic guitar hero to swathes of fans worldwide. “I’ve had mental women in Japan going nuts,” she laughs, “camping outside my hotel room.” Leaving the phenomenally successful Ash in 2006 was a bold and terrifying move, a mutually agreed decision, “they could tell it wasn’t really working anymore, the clue was I’d already made a solo record!” and the initial “massive shock” gave way to opportunities as both solo artist and in-demand touring guitarist, one who’s now played live on Roxy Music’s ‘Virginia Plane’ - “amazing!” – and found friendships in Bat For Lashes with people not only her own age but people her own gender.
In summer of 2009, she played the Glastonbury festival twice with - once with Bat For Lashes and as Charlotte Hatherley for the very first time. Since then she has been part of Bat For Lashes Touring Band and also been on a solo tour herself in September 2009.
Support on the night comes from Blackburns very own "Morning Call" and coming back once again prestons favourite sons "Underdogs"
