Gilmore & Roberts combine award-winning songwriting with astounding musicianship and their trademark harmonies to create a powerful wall of sound.
Nominated three times at the BBC Folk Awards, Katriona (fiddle, mandolin) and Jamie (guitar) released their debut album in 2008, since when they have toured Europe and Canada, played some of the UK’s biggest festivals, toured with legends Fairport Convention, and won countless accolades for their genre-spanning work.
Katriona learned violin at school and started playing local folk clubs at the age of 14. She joined folk sensations Tiny Tin Lady in 2006, and in 2011 was invited to be part of a new lineup of The Albion Band. Jamie was brought up in Barnsley in a musical family, he joined young English traditionalists Kerfuffle in 2007 and more recently formed The Dovetail Trio with Rosie Hood and Matt Quinn.
Together, they weave an intriguing blend of traditional and modern elements into their music, using ancient lyrical themes and potent true stories alongside more modern styles, while adding elements of technology and modern rhythms and techniques to build up the layers of their live sound. It’s an intoxicating brew and you really should make the effort to see them.
