Hands of the Heron

“Hands of the Heron is a dreamfolk trio from Bristol, UK. Their instantly recognisable vocal harmonies are delivered by three frontwomen - Bec Garthwaite, Beth Roberts & Claire Vine - each of whom brings a signature writing style to the band's mercurial sound. They move effortlessly between sparse choral folk and spellbinding chamber pop, richly layered with an assortment of strings, drones and reeds. Their second album 13 Moons was released in February 2021 on their own DIY label Cuculi Records, and has been praised as "a wondrous collection of curious story-songs, choral singing and carefully layered instrumentation" (Joyzine) with "songwriting mastery that perfectly delivers reverberating folk-pop" (Tap The Feed). Esteemed jazz critic Ted Gioia recommended 13 Moons as one of his top recordings for 2021.”

Anna Anise

“Anna Anise is a warm summer breeze of feel-good folk, captivating audiences with her lyrical storytelling and glorious melodies. Anna’s passion for community through music is evident in her infectious energy onstage and ability to bring a whole room together with a hooky chorus.

The Celtic influence is evident in Anna’s full-bodied guitar tunings and regular fiddle accompaniment, which stems from her Cornish roots. Higher Plain Music said ‘[Anna’s] melodies are fantastic, the arrangements sound fresh and yet the listener feels connected to old-school roots.’

 Anna studied music at BIMM Bristol, where she graduated with a first class honours degree in songwriting. During this time she was no stranger to some of Bristol's best venues including Thekla, The Trinity Centre, The Fleece and Lost Horizon. She completed her first album project as a collaboration with fellow students and start-up DIY label Cuculi Records. Shortly after Anna self-produced a three track EP which saw her signature layered harmonies and catchy hooks come to the forefront. In May 2023 Anna released her most developed sound yet, with the swelling heartfelt single Overexposed.
 from Anna Anise… I write feel-good folky songs filled with lyrical storytelling and energetic melodies. I’m passionate about community through music and love to bring a room together with a sing-a-long section, and those goosepimple-inducing harmonies. Songwriting has been part of my life since I was making up songs in the school playground (I remember those lyrics oh too well), and then all the way through my music degree and career in creative event production. I’m inspired by Celtic traditional music, and I’m excited by the songwriting process and the intricacies of its alchemy. ”
