We are very excited to announce that a highly respected guitarist Cameron Pierre will be joining us as a featured artist on November 3rd at Highams Park Jazz Club.
Cameron's musical journey began amidst the vibrant rhythms of his native Caribbean influences like Bob Marley, Mighty Diamond, and Burning Spear. At sixteen, he started as a bassist with Black Roots before migrating to the UK. There, he swiftly transitioned to guitar and collaborated with Jamaican icons such as Gregory Issacs and Dennis Brown, expanding his musical horizons to include jazz luminaries like George Benson and Charlie Christian.
His career blossomed further alongside Courtney Pine, joining Pine's band for nearly three decades. In 1994, Cameron founded 'Creole', celebrated for its diverse cultural mix and acclaimed performances at festivals like Glastonbury and Womad. His solo ventures, beginning with "Friday Night" in 1997 and followed by "The Other Side of Notting Hill" in 2003, showcased his prowess as a guitarist and composer.
Cameron's latest album, "Radio Jumbo," a collaboration with Martinique's Mario Canonge, underscores his evolution as an artist blending jazz sophistication with Caribbean flair. Known for his captivating stage presence and distinctive guitar style, Cameron continues to captivate audiences worldwide, earning accolades for his warm sound and engaging performances.
