Sam Carter, 'the finest English-style fingerpicking guitarist of his generation' (Jon Boden) with a ‘killer voice’ (Ivor Novello- winning musician Nitin Sawhney) A fifth studio album, 'Silver Horizon' is due in august and showcased with an autumn tour supporting the release. We didn't hesitate in snapping up Sam for a fresh Brighton date after his impressive solo show in may.
Over the course of his fifteen-year career, Sam has earned a reputation for vivid, narrative-driven songwriting 'as penetrating as Richard Thompson’s best work' (Uncut) and as a highly regarded instrumentalist.
Sam's impressive back catalogue and captivating live shows attest to his ability to bring together a diverse set of influences from English folksong and American shapenote singing through to hard rock. Sam has made appearances on national TV, won a BBC Folk Award, and has toured the world, sharing stages with many of folk’s leading lights.
‘No longer is he the amiable befringed folk singer armed with a guitar and his take on a traditional song. He’s grown into a sharply aware (and sharply coiffured) observer and chronicler of the contemporary…’ Bright Young Folk
‘This is the sound of a man supremely confident in his ability to craft and shape both words and music’ folking.com
