A DIFFERENT THREAD
Transatlantic Americana band, A Different Thread, is fronted by Alicia Best from Durham, North Carolina and Robert Jackson from Lichfield, England. The two songwriters first met while busking in Galway, Ireland — a chance encounter that sparked a creative partnership that has flourished over eight years of independent music-making and living on the road.
Described as "warm, deep songwriters" by Folk Radio UK, A Different Thread weaves together elements of 70s' folk revival, americana, and Appalachian blues. Their original sound is a timeless blend of hair-raising harmonies, mournful fiddle and harmonica, with finger-picked guitar and a suitcase drum-kit. They are backed up by Birmingham's very own Mike Seal on double bass.
STYLUSBOY
Stylusboy, Coventry singer-songwriter Steve Jones, creates indie folk music steeped in warm-hearted melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Influenced by contemporary songwriters like John Smith, Sandra McCracken and Elliot Smith, as well as classic artists such as Nick Drake. Stylusboy’s sound has recently developed through inspirations from artists like the electronic pop-based sounds of Athlete, experimental folk group Lau and ‘Kid A era’ Radiohead.
A clever mixture of folk and pop, much of the hybrid approach recalls the chilled-out vibes of Beck’s “Mellow Gold” era, as it has that same intimacy.’ – BEACH SLOTH
‘With sentimental indie folk at its core, Jones rich storytelling and accessible melodies are also in the vein of country and gospel music’ - Longwave Radio LMR
