David Cross (electric violin) is best known for his contribution to some of the most revered music in the King Crimson catalogue – but he has also carved out a unique place in rock with strikingly original music from the David Cross Band. David was described on Facebook recently as the Mr Kipling of band leaders, ‘always an exceeding fine band’ (Dave Derbyshire) and this is epitomised by the creativity and musicianship of Mick Paul (bass), Sheila Maloney (keyboards) and Jack Summerfield (drums). Inspiring passion on stage and laughter (mostly off-stage) is the newest member of the band, one of the UK’s finest musicians, John Mitchell (Asia, Arena, creator of ‘The Lonely Robot’) on soaring guitar and cutting lead vocals.

In this show, the David Cross Band continue their celebration of the 72-74 incarnation of King Crimson (Robert Fripp, David Cross, John Wetton, Bill Bruford) with ground-breaking music from ‘Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, ‘Starless and Bible Black’ and ‘Red’ but they have added their own zest and insight to the tracks so that, 50 years on, this music still sparkles, shocks and surprises.

The performance will also feature highlights from the David Cross Band’s last studio album ‘Ice Blue, Silver Sky’ (November 2023 Cherry Red).

‘Ice Blue, Silver Sky’ is profound, powerful, and filled with minute intensity. It’s a great modern progressive rock record that creates its own art-rock turbulence as it follows the musical wake of what drummer extraordinaire Bill Bruford dubbed, “the Good Ship Crimson.” (Bill Golembeski November 2023, https://somethingelsereviews.com)

Providing the opening act is Maria Fausta, an Italian multi-instrumentalist, singer, violinist, composer and conductor. She is an exciting performer whose music has ranged from classical to prog, rock, and pop. Now based in Berlin she crossed paths as a support act with David Cross when he was touring Italy as a guest performer with the leading Italian progressive rock band, Le Orme.
