Event Information
The dynamic transatlantic trio A Different Thread, are set to bring their acclaimed 'british-americana' show to Hereford's The Left Bank Village Speakeasy.
The story of A Different Thread began with a serendipitous meeting, busking on the streets of Galway, Ireland. Alicia Best of Durham, North Carolina, and Englishman, Robert Jackson from the West Midlands. Their impromptu harmonies sparked a creative partnership that has flourished over eight years of independent music-making and living on the road.
Known for their hair-raising vocal harmonies, soulful harmonica, and Alicia’s distinctive suitcase drum-kit, the duo creates a minimalist yet powerful sound that resonates deeply with listeners.
Folk Radio UK lauded them as “warm, deep songwriters” with “a strong, independent sound,” a testament to their writing, which delves into themes of change, counter culture, travel, and the parting ways and reuniting that comes with a life on the road.
The patchwork tour invites audience members to bring a scrap or fabric to contribute to a collaborative piece of art. The band will transform these into a unique quilt, symbolising unity, diversity, and creativity. Fans who participate will be put into a hat to win the finished piece.
In their opposition to the fast fashion fabric market, A Different Thread only offer up-cycled fabric shirts, and if you bring your own shirt to the show (pale colours work best) they will spray a customised stencil design on it for you.
