The Savage Hearts –teenage Irish garage rockers The Strypes from 2012-2019 enjoyed substantial international success from supporting the Arctic Monkeys on their ‘AM’ world tour, with celebrated appearances on Letterman and Conan as well as 3 Top 10 albums in the UK and beyond. The band folded just before Covid and since then main man Evan Walsh has formed his own garage/punk/alternative rock ‘n’ roll band called The Savage Hearts… debut single ‘Gang War’ hit No 1 on the Irish downloads chart, some major festival appearances followed (Sea Sessions, Electric Picnic etc) and support slots with acts such as The Boomtown Rats and The Undertones. Strangely The Strypes never played the Dublin Castle – and they say “it’s a stage that has been frequented by so many of our heroes and influences we feel our vibe and sound would fit perfectly alongside the long history of fantastic bands who’ve gigged there…and you’d be guaranteed a killer set!” Judging from the brilliant, balls out rock and roll of the first single and other music forthcoming accessible online this is a given. Superb band.
