The Men From Another World – ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if you could be a better Cyborg’ muses Lord Numb in his new post alien nation concept rock noir combo…so, futurist dystopian grooves are very much the thang with a certain Wire, Bowie, Magazine like post punk feel via some big power chord guitar. Great stuff.
Square Dance Caller-Is the genre-defying brainchild of Australian brothers and songwriters, Brendan and Michael Etherington. A nod to their late grandfather’s tenure as a real-life Square Dance Caller, the band draws inspiration from outfits Arctic Monkeys, The Clash and Gorillaz.
Status Complicated – Epic alt rock with a prog undertow that put me in mind of Mars Volta although could easily suddenly sashay off into a dark neo metal setting. Chunky.
Holding Poison – rock/pop duo with a lot going on for 2 chaps. Melodic altness is the order of the day. Named after a song by Foo Fighters, natch.
