We’re thrilled to welcome celebrated lyric soprano Kirsty Taylor-Stokes to sing the sublime Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss in our first concert of 2025.
With a voice that has been described as “sumptuous” and “spine-tingling”, Kirsty is known for having a wide ranging repertoire, with a specialism in the music of Richard Strauss. She has performed on prestigious opera stages including Glyndebourne, Grange Park Opera, Garsington Opera, Cadogan Hall and with Opera Loki.
This programme, conducted by Jonathan Butcher, also includes Elgar’s In the South (Alassio) – a work full of vibrant orchestral colours – and Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, with its graceful charm.
The evening culminates in a performance of the powerful and evocative Symphony No. 2 by Borodin – a dynamic and thrilling work, brimming with Russian folk melodies and bold orchestration, making it a powerful showcase of his masterful compositional style and a must-hear for any lover of orchestral music.
