Storyteller and druts’yla Shonaleigh Cumbers, the world-renowned tradition bearer and storyteller, brings one of her Tellers, Tales, Tradition weekends to Cambridge. This unique, immersive weekend of storytelling for adults is a rare chance to hear these ancient tales in the light and on the tongue, stories untold for two generations and barely spoken of for decades.
Eve’s Three Beautiful Daughters belongs to the Cycle of Hillel, which is the first of twelve epic, latticed, interlinked cycles of stories passed down through generations of Jewish women. This is the third ‘episode’ from the cycle to be told this autumn, in depth and over the leisurely space of the weekend: it’s the one that restores these women their individual names, and illuminates the heritage passed from one woman to another through the centuries.
The weekend is hosted by Marion Leeper at her house in Cambridge, and there will be a chance to explore Cambridge’s beautiful centre with its own hidden spaces and secret histories. On booking, Marion will send full details on where, how and what to expect.
The weekend is suitable for adults and 14+ only.
The weekend runs from 6.00pm on Friday (arrive from 5.00 pm) to 2.00 pm on Sunday. Tickets are £100 per person and will include lunch, dinner and snacks. Marion can advise on accommodation – there are plenty of places close by.
There are a limited number of volunteer places available, to help out during the weekend with cooking, cleaning and organising, and pay a reduced fee.
