Event Information
ACTING IN FILM WITH FRANKIE CORIO - We are excited to welcome actor Frankie Corio to Cinemagic to take part in an ‘Acting in Film’ Q&A before a screening of the multi award-winning drama Aftersun.
Frankie Corio is the 14-year-old breakout star of Charlotte Wells’ two-hander AFTERSUN, where she made her debut, alongside Paul Mescal. Frankie’s exceptional performance saw her win awards at the London Film Critics’ Circle Award and The Big Screen Awards. She was further nominated for the British Independent Film Awards, Annual Critics Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards, Florida Film Critics Circle Awards and BAFTA Scotland Award, the youngest person ever to receive a nomination. She was announced as one of Variety’s ‘10 Brits to Watch’. She will soon be seen in Colm McCarthy’s film BAGMAN, alongside Sam Claflin and Antonia Thomas.
Aftersun - Twenty years after their last holiday at a fading vacation resort, Sophie reflects on the rare time spent with her loving and idealistic father Calum. At 11-years-old, as the world of adolescence creeps into Sophie's view, Calum struggles under the weight of life outside of fatherhood. Sophie's recollections become a powerful and heartrending portrait of their relationship, as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn't.
