Event information
Over 20 years since the airing of their last session, SALOON's two studio sessions recorded for BBC's John Peel show are being released onto vinyl LP by the Precious Recordings of London label. This is our launch party to celebrate this long awaited release. Saloon were a Reading based folktronica / dreampop band that were active between 1998-2003. In their time they recorded two studio albums (for Track and Field in UK & Darla Records in the US), had four songs in John Peel's Festive 50 and played countless shows with acts including not least Of Montreal, Sea Power, Movietone, Electrelane and Stereolab.
This event from Happy Robots will start with a playback of the two Saloon Peel sessions starting at 8pm. After that we will have live performances from two Saloon-adjacent acts. At 9pm we'll have the debut performance by CLOUD STUDIES, the new band from Adam Cresswell (Saloon / Rodney Cromwell), Michael Malley (of Fierce Panda's Pullover) airing their set of dreampop gothgaze songs for the first time. And the main event will be a live performance from THE LEAF LIBRARY, the celebrated and prolific north London drone-pop band featuring Matt Ashton (also formerly of Saloon) and friends. Expect a special night with songs you may not have heard for a long time.
Happy Robots DJ's between the acts and closing the night. The Peel Session LP will be available to purchase on the night. This is an intimate venue so please book early to avoid disappointment.
