Event Information
In their first four years Sunbirds have had an eventful time to say the least.
Formed in 2019 by guitarist/songwriter Phil Barton with ex-Beautiful South singer and co-founder Dave Hemingway, Sunbirds have now evolved into a lean, guitar-driven four-piece and found themselves in a much happier place.
Based at their studio affectionally dubbed 'Shabby Rd' on the east side of London, Sunbirds draw from a broad range of influences ranging from The Beatles via Squeeze to Radiohead while absorbing all points in between.
They’re not afraid to write a two and a half minute pop song as their knack for an ear-worm, idiosyncratic lyrics, West-coast inspired harmonies and good old fashioned rock'n'roll guitar testifies.
The band are currently recording their next album 'A Life Worth Living', the follow-up to 2020's debut "Cool To Be Kind," which received critical acclaim from Mojo and Classic Pop Magazine.
Post-COVID Sunbirds have been touring extensively across the UK with their live show growing in confidence, delivering captivating energetic performances with playful on-stage humour that sometimes belies their serious musicianship.
Along the way Sunbirds have picked up supports to The Zutons and indie dance darlings Apollo Junction and 70's soft rock legends Sad Cafe.
"We’re a band, in the proper sense of the word, in that each one of us contributes to the overall chemistry," Phil stresses. "We write songs, say what we want to say, bring them to the band and what comes out is Sunbirds. It's all honest, there's nothing fake about it"
Catch them at a small venue while you can!
