Des Was a Bowie Fan: Brighton & Hove Special at The Bee's Mouth

On Saturday November 9th the Des Was a Bowie Fan clubnight makes its Brighton & Hove debut - indiepop, new wave, post-punk, 60s Pop and Northern Soul dancing, with the glimmer and shimmer of wild cat rock and roll and queer gospel, down in the beautiful, intimate basement room of The Bee's Mouth on Western Road.

The Shangri-Las to The Smiths, Candi Staton to The Cure, Brigitte Bardot to Belle and Sebastian, Roy Orbison to The Raincoats, Little Richard to Little Eva, Dusty Springfield to Depeche Mode, Jackie Wilson to Joy Division, Jimmy Ruffin to David Bowie. 8pm till 1am. Get in as soon as you can to get suitably oiled up. The bar has a sweet selection of drinks including some Belgian hellfire on tap.

Des Was a Bowie Fan is a clubnight founded in 2013 at the Tutu's nightclub on London's Strand. It has since played out residencies at East End venues Jamboree, The George Tavern and Paper Dress Vintage, as well as on the West End’s famous Denmark Street at The Alleycat club and Edinburgh’s Henry’s Cellar Bar, creating feral Pop dancing havens for lovers and dreamers young and old. Guest DJs at the club in its London carnation have included Eddie Argos of Art Brut, Darren Hayman of John Peel favourites Hefner, and feminist author and post-punk musician Helen McCookerybook. It is Wales' 600th most successful export across the bridge, coming in just after Shakin' Stevens' autobiography.
