East-Breton band Planchée are coming to the UK for the first time this autumn, celebrating the release of their second studio album. Firmly rooted in sung circle-dance traditions, and the « avant-deux » dance repertoire as well as fiddle and melodeon traditions of the Gallo area, the trio boasts a unique sound with Manu Bouthillier (fiddle, vocals), Dylan James (double-bass, vocals) and Yannick Laridon (melodeons) They are accompanied on this tour by melodeon-player and singer Mike James, an expert of Breton dance music in France and abroad.
This shared bill is a unique chance to discover the unique styles of playing and dance from Eastern Brittany, which are very different from the more standard Breton repertoire you might have heard before.
There will be a workshop to learn some dancing between 5.30 and 7pm, with a bal-concert from 8pm onwards. Not to be missed!
