For this performance, the audience downstairs in the hall will be sitting on tiered seating. These seat will be offered first to the those who buy the first 60 tickets. The remaining 40 audience members will be seated in the balcony, which is slightly further from the stage, though you can still see and hear what's going on very well from there.
It's May 1988. Robin Hesketh, a junior minister in Margaret Thatcher’s Government, comes home to his idyllic Cotswold residence two days after passing the notorious Section 28 that prohibited the “promotion of homosexuality” by local authorities. But life is not as blissful as it seems. The foxes have dug up his garden, his wife has a hangover and the fridge is empty. A morning of comical marital sparring evolves into something darker and deeper as an incident from the past tests their relationship to its limits.
This funny, brutal and ultimately touching play was premiered at the National Theatre in 2019. In this general election year there could not be a better time for its revival.
Camp Theatre is a community theatre company based in South-East Cornwall. This year the company celebrates its thirtieth anniversary and it is proud to have raised over £73,000 for a host of local, national and international charities since its first production in 1994. Profits from this production will also go to charity so, by supporting it, you will not only enjoy an evening of comedy and drama but also be benefiting several worthy causes.
