About Bournville Voices

Unique in the City of Birmingham, Bournville Voices is an a cappella SATB chamber choir, exclusively for adults. Originally formed in 2010 by the popular demand of former members of Bournville Young Singers, this choir now welcomes all for weekly rehearsals during term time to build a repertoire of varied music for performance in concerts and gigs.

Music sung ranges from ancient secular songs such as 'Sumer is icumen in' to newly written songs by living composers, such as Bob Chilcott, Eric Whitacre and James MacMillan amongst others. Most genre’s are covered, including jazz and pop with arrangements of standards.

Sacred music features with motets and anthems from established classical composers such as Bruckner, Byrd, Tallis, Mozart, Stanford and many others. In December the choir enjoys exploring Christmas songs and carols, both familiar and less well known or completely new!
Carol singing for charity, such as Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Selly Manor Museum Christmas Festival are always regular events, greatly enjoyed by the singers.

A connection still remains with the children’s and youth choir Bournville Young Singers, as their present Director of Music sings bass in Bournville Voices, and from time to time the two choirs give concerts together.

Bournville Voices is led by experienced musician and performer Anne Ellis who also runs a successful music teaching practise and is Director of Music at St Mary Magdalene Church in Tanworth in Arden.

Bournville Voices is available for booking to sing at weddings and other ceremonies. For further details, please contact Anne on 0121 458 2331 or email anneellis854@yahoo.co.uk.
