A tribute to an extraordinary coming together of two iconoclastic artists in their own fields. This astonishing project aims to embrace an historic confluence, rather than to mimic the sound of the now-considered classic 1979 Joni Mitchell album, Mingus.

Nominated for Best Vocalist and Best Album in the 2024 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Imogen Ryall and her all star band featuring, Julian Nicholas; David Beebee and Eric Ford have performed the Mingus/Mitchell Songbook at Pizza Express Soho; Watermill Jazz Club and opened for this year’s Watford Jazz Junction Festival. Imogen, Julian & David also appeared live on Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ with presenter Sean Rafferty commenting, ‘This is history in the making’. The album, released in Sept ‘23 on the Rubicon Classics label, was also included in the list of “Best Albums of 2023” by five independent reviewers.
