Event information
Singer songwriter Isabel Rumble (AUS) brings her captivating music to the UK for the first time for a special show with the exquisite Northallerton artist George Boomsma. Both possessing mesmerising vocals and intricate guitar playing, Rumble and Boomsma share their indie-folk songs from the heart. A not-to-be-missed evening of intimate storytelling and song.
Isabel Rumble
Indie-folk songstress, Isabel, hails from a walnut farm in the southern valleys of NSW, Australia.
Raised by the riverside in a rich folk music community, Isabel’s music speaks to the heart of womanhood, love and change. With a voice that captures the dynamism of Joni Mitchell and writing reminiscent of the tenderness of Laura Marling, her performances and recordings hold an intimacy that invites listeners into a cocoon of silent wonder.
“Her songs are mesmeric, intoxicating even, and her voice is liquid crystal.” (review of recent performance in Adelaide, AUS).
Following the release of her 2023 Folk Alliance Australia Award nominated debut album, Bird Be Brave, Isabel has been captivating audiences around the country, playing festivals and selling out venues and house concerts across seven states.
Still in the early stage of her career, in just three years Isabel has already played significant festivals including the world renowned Port Fairy Folk Festival amongst many others, and opened for the likes of acclaimed folk duo Lior & Domini, guitar virtuoso Daniel Champagne, New Zealand’s Holly Arrowsmith and Ireland’s David Keenan.
With her sophomore album on the horizon and first European tour under her belt, 2025 sees Isabel play her first shows in the UK and officially showcase at Your Roots Are Showing in Ireland.
"The light , the stars, the sky, the river, the wind, all the things that flow through her songs are filtered through her calm, gentle, peaceful voice and vision.” (Rhythms Magazine).
George Boomsma
George has been honing his song-writing craft and live performances over the past decade, and been gaining some well-earnt attention and acclaim. His pure voice and tumbling guitar make for a bewitching combination, with a maturity and poetic lyricism that have left audiences around the country entranced.
He has been invited to support and perform alongside many established artists such as Richard Thompson, Scott Matthews and Katherine Priddy. On top of these live performances, his music been featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music.
"A sensational guitarist and a beautiful singer-songwriter, a name to watch." (Moseley Folk Festival).
“Rather lovely...” (Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2 Folk Show).
