Event information
A hugely popular Wirral comedy night returns for another serving of hilarity on Friday September 12, 2025.
The pro-nights of comedy featuring an MC and three top class acts from the UK comedy scene plus food from Wirral caterers take place at Thornton Hough Village Club.
After full houses during a successful debut season in 2024 – DBN Events will be serving up five more nights of comedy throughout 2025.
The night in September will be headlined by the ludicrously good LOVDEV BARPAGA.
Lovdev has the kind of effortless and gentle likeability that is completely unique in the comedy world.
Entire crowds seem to fall in love with him from the start and as much of his incredible humour as for his undeniable charm.
Often laughing as much as his audience, here's a man in love with his job and it shows. You can't help but laugh along with him: The ultimate feel-good comic.
“One of the most brilliant daft comics you will ever see" - JOE LYCETT
"The 21st Century Asian Ken Goodwin" - STEVE BENNETT
“Hurricane of one-liners old school comedy " THREE WEEK
Our opening act is the delightful HOWARD ANSTOCK.
After only starting his comedy career in 2017, it was not long before Howard won his first accolade as the Cheshire Cat Comedy New Act 2018, closely followed by being awarded the Kung-fu Pug Comedy New Act 2019.
Howard was then a Great Yorkshire Fringe New Act finalist 2019, World Series semi-finalist in 2019 and Leicester Square New Act semi-finalist 2023.
With deeply personal material, that mixes anecdotes and experiences, Howard has been described as “an acidic Victoria Wood”, which is high praise indeed.
From being homeless to being humorous….Howard is on one hell of an exciting comedy journey!
“Absolutely terrific, a performance that went like clockwork, everything landed” -
Notts Comedy Review
“Can write and tell the perfect joke, perfectly!” - Rich Wilson
And support comes from the immense DOM HUTCHINS.
Being half Cornish isn't Dom's disability or is it?!
Now being in his late 40's , he's still more stable on a pair of skis.
Having shouted at a politician, he's definitely no inspiration, he gladly admits. `
Dom won a comedy competition in Stockton and the clip from his set got over 1k views.
"A Star in The Making". Tom Short - Comedy Lab
MC for the night is quick-fire gag merchant BEN TURNER - a World One Liner Championship and Comedy Cellar Yorkshire New Act of the Year finalist who has racked up 3m views on Facebook Reels and was included in the Daily Telegraph and The Poke’s funniest jokes of lockdown.
'One liner wizard' - Shoecake Comedy
‘Laughed so hard I snorted my tea through my nose’ – Nick Page
The comedy night is the brainchild of Dean Boodaghians-Nolan - an actor who lives in the village as part of his passion to ensure the community he loves has a wide-range of entertainment options in a venue that is already renowned for attracting brilliant performers for its live music nights.
Doors on September 12 will open at 6.30pm and the comedy starts at 8pm prompt.
Tickets, expected to sell fast, can be bought via the booking page.
Further Friday night comedy nights will be held at Thornton Hough Village Club on November 14.
