Event information
Join us for the latest in our series of “Teller’s Special” nights, where we give the first half to a handful of our regular story tellers then concentrate on one performer for the second half.
This time it’s Steve Dimmer, that man of many talents – he’s an established family magician, a playwright whose work, about a wide variety of subjects, is performed in theatres round the country, a public speaker at events, and of course an excellent storyteller. (Oh, and a wearer of superb T-shirts.)
Steve brings CAT TALES, stories, as Steve says, of our feline masters. Cats have long been a cornerstone of folktales, so here are tales from across the world and time - stories from Iceland, France, Greece, Germany, the British Isles, and myths from the Japanese, Yiddish, Indian and American traditions. Some will be humorous, some intriguing, some surprising, some even slightly disturbing but all confirming humankind’s fascination and one-sided love for these amazing creatures. Liberally sprinkled with poetry and anecdotes, CAT TALES promises, in fact, to be a purr-fect entertainment, whether you’re owned by cats or not.
As always, we have the lovely surroundings of Northampton's Quaker Meeting House, we offer the warm welcome atmosphere of the Feast of Fools, and we offer a veritable Feast of far from foolish cakes! Not forgetting the better-than-the-average-raffle raffle.
