Described by none other than Stewart Lee as ‘one of the 10 best comedians ever’ Stephen Carlin has received great critical acclaim from lesser mortals too. From his sartorial elegance to his in-depth and hilarious knowledge of International snooker, Carlin’s performance takes the audience into the mind of a passionate obsessive. All skilfully delivered in his deadpan Scottish brogue.
“One of the most inventive stand-ups on the Fringe.. ..hilarious” Chortle “A cult favourite” Guardian
Vancouver’s Glenn Wool reached these shores in the mid-Nineties and, much to the disdain of lesser comedians, it looks like he’s here to stay. When not at home in his adopted Essex, Wool consistently sells out shows at the world’s biggest comedy festivals and has appeared on numerous TV shows.Topical, engaging, opinionated but never preachy and, of course, downright hysterically funny, Glenn is a surefire hit in front of any audience.
“Why aren’t you in a queue somewhere buying a ticket?” Scotsman “Effortlessly funny” Guardian “Absolutely hilarious” Independent
Your host for the evening is Stephen Bailey, (Live at the Apollo, Celebrity Mastermind, Takeshi’s Castle etc). A proud Northern, working class, gay man. Best known as a TV presenter it’s the arena of live, stand up comedy where Stephen really shines. Gossipy, bitchy, close to the bone even, but with such an infectious sense of fun everyone gets the joke and no one is left behind.
“Natural talent” Metro “Rising star” The Sun
Elaine Robertson takes the middle spot. Didsbury Comedy Club is booked, marketed and produced by Comedy In A Van and held at St Catherine’s Community Centre
