As part of Muswell Hill Sustainability Group's Green Open Homes season, retrofit specialist, Dermot Barnes, presents an hour long introduction to the ‘why, what and how’ of residential retrofit, focusing on a risks-based approach and the low hanging fruit. followed by an open Q&A and refreshments.
Dermot was a founding member of MHSG and sister organisation en10ergy, and had a central role in the team which made the applications to DECC which allowed en10ergy to install their first two solar roofs in Muswell Hill. He also set up the Low Carbon Buying Group, helping local residents to buy energy saving solutions at reduced prices and is always happy to share his passion for all things Green.
Dermot is director of sustainability at City St Gerges’s, University of London where he leads on the design and implementation of sustainability strategy across education, research, operational and engagement workstreams. His background is in the property and construction sectors where he has worked in public and private sector decarbonisation. He also ran a design and build business supplying and installing sustainable glazing, insulation and renewable energy systems.
