Event information
We are very pleased to announce that John is coming back to Reeth in 2025.
He of course need very little introduction to our audience. For what will be his fourteenth visit in eighteen years to Reeth this show will be a little different.
You will come along on a journey presented as "a journal recounting 6 decades of work in film, theatre, tv, radio and concert stages. All told through rare film footage, stories and live songs."
This will be only the second time that John has performed this show. Reeth Memorial Hall holds a very special in his heart and he has over the many years of visiting formed a genuine bond with the audiences who return year after year. Following the retirement of Frank & Chris from Wear Sound, with whom he has worked on all his previous Reeth visits, he was keen to offer something different for his audience. This promises to be a memorable evening.
John Tams, described by Mojo as ‘one of the ultimate British songwriters’, has had a career spanning six decades in every medium. A member of the Albion Band and Home Service he is perhaps best known for his work at the National Theatre and as Rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe television series.
He is a seven times winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, including an award for Best Duo, with long-time collaborator and friend, the late Barry Coope. He is the Songmaker for Warhorse, a member of the original creative team and has toured the world with the production.
