Event information
Stompin’ Dave is a master of all kinds of American roots.
“A formidable musician and true original” the Daily Telegraph
“Let's face it, in adding the quality of his original material the man is a downright genius” Blues in Britain.
Dave is considered to be one of the most exciting, energetic and entertaining musicians on the current live music scene. He was nominated for a UK Blues Award in 2024. Dave was a member of former UK Blues Band of the Year The Producers. He's given over one hundred performances per year across the UK and beyond., including Glastonbury, Camp Bestival and Bestival.
Dave's songwriting is immersed in American roots music. It's “not only a sound of yesteryear that should be in a museum but real, modern and relevant that should be heard live” according to Blues Matters.
On drums will be Lucy Piper. Lucy is the daughter of the late blues guitarist, writer and broadcaster Julian Piper. In the past few years Lucy has spent many nights performing in Mississippi, USA alongside top USA-based musicians. She played drums on Ryan Perry's album Low Reward which was nominated for a Blues Music Award in 2020. She's been on our stage here at Ashburton Arts Centre several times, and is always a hit.
