Event information
Oxford is one of the most haunted places in Britain, with good reason. It was the murder capital of medieval England, largely due to its extremely badly behaved student population.
I will take you on a tour round the city's most sinister side-streets and baddest back-alleys, where we will hear about the terrible events that have left so many spirits wandering eternally.
Burning bishops. Enraged poltergeists. Abandoned lovers. The devil himself!! All have made their restless presence felt over the centuries and if we're (un)lucky, we might spot one of them tonight - it has happened on my past tours.
This tour needs to take place when it's dark, as that's when 'they' come out. It could well be cold so please dress accordingly. But as we know, all the best ghost stories take place on a dark and stormy night...
What people are saying:
"Fabulous ghost tour *****
100% recommend Lady Gargoyle's brilliant ghost tour!! The stories were suitably gruesome, horrifying, spooky and highly entertaining. Jess certainly knows her Oxford ghosts and all the grim and grizzly details of how they came to be haunting the streets and colleges. She shared the stories with gusto and energy, with a big dollop of well-informed historical context. My teen and I loved every minute and have been talking about the ghosts since!"
"Fantastic spooky night! *****
Really interesting tour for kids and adults alike. Learnt so much fascinating history and done with wonderful humour."
