The annual Braw Gigs Xmas Bash is hitting the Banshee on the 6th December. I'm very pleased to announce the east coast debut by a mysteeris new band from the west, conjuring up some truly dark death/doom metal this side of the left hand path. Unmaking - featuring members of Anxiety, The Lowest Form, Amor and Franz Ferdinand. Think Burning Witch, Bolt Thrower, crusty Darkthrone, Thorrs Hammer. With their first release immanent, Unmaking have caused quite a buzz with their early shows in the west, so here's a super rare chance to catch the doom trio in the flesh.
Also in tow will be Glow-wirM, a Glasgow-based musician and artist - blown-out & frenetic industrial electronica, inflected with punk and noise influences, carried through on a wave of orchestral brass and strings. Glow-wirM’s live performances never scrimp on the visual, employing sculpture, audio-triggered lighting, lasers and swirling projections on rotation.
Gnarl is the one-man Doom-Noise project of Thomas Ott (Catafalque, The Dead Yesterdays) inspired by the landscapes and folklore of the British Isles. Brooding guitars weave between layered field recordings and cascades of searing noise. FFO: Sunn O))), Bismuth, Harvestman, Nadja. Gnarl will be joined on stage with some guest words and invocations from local DIY stalwart, cryptozoologist and straight edge icon, Scott Lyall.
I'm also chuffed to welcome the stand up comedy stylings of punk rock (re)mover and shaker, Murray Briggs of Oi Polloi, In Decades Decline and those absolute psychopaths, Aberfeldy. He'll be bringing some festive spice and xmas cheer between acts as our MC on the night.
