Event information
We have all noticed the problems with our food system. There is an obesity crisis; farmers are in uproar. There is concern about ultra-processed food. In "Stuffed", Pen Vogler looks at the history of food and drink at the centre of social upheaval: medieval inns at the time of plague; the Enclosure movement and the end of the celebratory roast goose. What can we learn from the feasts and famines of the past to understand the problems of today?
Pen Vogler is a food historian and author of "Scoff" and "Dinner with Dickens". This is her second visit to StonyWords.
The event is on the first floor. There is a lift to enable access to the venue.
