Event information
When bones belonging to no known creature were found on a beach in 1811, leading scientists were forced to confront a disturbing possibility: that the Bible, as an acount of creation, was wildly wrong. Over the next 70 years, pioneering thinkers (most notably Darwin) took great risks to construct a new account of the Earth's origins. Impossible Monsters is their story.
This is Michael Taylor's second visit to StonyWords. In 2023, he came to speak about his book The Interest about the fight to abolish slavery. Michael was a Lecturer in Modern British History at Balliol College, Oxford and now works for PwC LLP.
The event is on the first floor. There is a lift to enable access to the venue.
