π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π» A message from Younis: π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»
My name is Younis, and I am a trans man. I am also a sculptor and art technician. Since my transition, I have received great support from friends, loved ones, and colleagues, which has sustained me through a very difficult time in my life. However, as a trans person, I have struggled to find and continue in work while pushing myself in my own artistic practice.
Right now, I am seeking gender-affirming surgeryβthis is life-saving surgery that I urgently require. Unfortunately, the UK waiting times for the GIC (Gender Identity Clinic) are over 10 years. This means I wouldnβt be able to be seen by the GIC or get surgery through the NHS until I am in my 40s. I cannot wait this long; my mental health is affected on a daily basis.
I am now fundraising to get this top surgery surgery done abroad, as it is significantly cheaper and more accessible than in the UK. The funds raised will go towards my surgery, aftercare, and basic living expenses such as food and bills, as I wonβt be able to work for at least two months post-op.
I feel very privileged to have such a great network of support from friends, loved ones, and my community. It would mean so much to have your continued support with this fundraiser and to use this as an opportunity to celebrate our community and have a great night together.
