Ruth Lyon is the lead singer and songwriter of acclaimed cult-folk rockers Holy Moly & The Crackers. The band has sold out shows all over the UK and Europe, performed at innumerable festivals – Cropredy, Glastonbury and Colours of Ostrava in Czech Republic – and had their songs featured on film and TV, most notably Hollywood’s Blockbuster Ocean’s 8. Ruth is now an established solo artist in her own right performing in New York, The Great Escape, selling out headline shows and was recently invited to record a BBC live session of her work at Abbey Road Studios. Joined by fellow HMATC band mate and acclaimed singer songwriter, Tommy Arch, alongside James Nicholls fiddle player of Buffalo Skinners, they will be performing acoustic versions from the Holy Moly & The Crackers catalogue, traditional folk songs and their own self-penned ballads. Fuelled by many a late-night bottle of the house red over their ten years performing and touring together, they write their own style of earthy folk songs – full of memory, love, new horizons and the endless dream of the road. Ruth says: You’ve heard about all that stuff before, but once you’ve lived a bit, what else is there to write about? You try to get away from it, but you just can’t. It’s part of the human condition”
This event will be seated.
Ripon Arts Hub well stocked bar will open at 7.00pm, doors 7.30 and music at about 8.00pm
