Event information
“…the lovechild of John Prine and Mitch Hedberg with a vagabond troubadour edge.” – The Stranger
We are extremely lucky to be able to offer you a John Craigie show - he's normally found in much bigger venues and indeed will be at the Kentish Town Forum the night before this show.
From humble beginnings playing for tips in the coffee shops of the western US, Craigie has progressed his way serenely to headlining large theatres in the States, opening for Jack Johnson on stadium tours and filling famous mid-size venues all over Europe.
His appeal isn't hard to discern, particularly once you've seen him. His studio albums display huge songwriting prowess, accompanied by the best musicians on the West Coast, and the live solo show will make an hour and a half seem like 10 minutes. Stories, humour and top-notch tunes are all second nature to John - you can relax and let him take care of the evening for you...
Opener Taylor Rae has been hand-picked by John to open all of the shows on this European tour, stretching from Galway to Stockholm.
Born in the scenic coastal town of Santa Cruz, California, Taylor swiftly made her mark on the Americana music scene and Henry Carrigan of No Depression described Taylor Rae's musical prowess, noting, "Taylor Rae’s edgy vocals slide easily from tender to tough, from a gentle whisper on folk ballads to soaring shouts on the blues and blues-rock striders. The album introduces a singer fully in command of her vocal gifts and a songwriter who enfolds her lyric sensibility in haunting musical sketches."
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO BAR OR OTHER REFRESHMENTS AT THE INSTITUTE. FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR OWN, OR TRAVEL LIGHT AND USE THE CO-OP OPPOSITE THE VENUE.
