The Funk Experience features musicians Neil Angilley, Dave Ital, Orefo Orakwue and Nic France, who have provided musical services to a “who’s who” of stars including Al Jarreau, Madonna, Vanessa Mae, Anastacia, David Gilmour, M People, Nile Rogers, Joss Stone, Chaka Khan and Bill Withers.

With this band, Derek has the opportunity to play the funk and groove pieces that have influenced him throughout his career, drawing on a back catalogue of hits by Bill Withers, The Crusaders, The Average White Band, David Sanborn, Grover Washington Jnr, Herbie Hancock, the JBs and Stevie Wonder.

Featured on their first album are two amazing vocalists - Noel McCalla (Morrissey Mullen, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band) and Louise Marshall (Jools Holland, David Gilmour, Beverley Knight).
