Event information
London's premiere female power-pop-punk band The Priscillas go from strength to strength sharing bills with Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go's, touring the UK with Lene Lovich and Gaye Bykers On Acid, supporting Gene Loves Jezebel and Belouis Some at the O2 Academy Islington, performing at Southampton Pride and Somers Town Festivals, and as sole support for L7's only UK date at a sold-out Electric Ballroom in London. The Priscillas live shows take you on an explosive, glammed-up journey with flavours of psychedelia, post-punk and power pop with lyrics that include searing social commentary and personal anecdotes. Enigmatic frontwoman Jenny stalks the stage sharing pitch perfect vocals with guitarist Valkyrie (who is also Lene Lovich’s bassist) as she riffs on reverberating and distorted hooks, assuming
rockstar poses. Bassist Taylor sways along with cool, tight bass lines and three- part harmonies while Jola (also Adam Ant’s drummer) holds court with innovative, jaunty and powerful beats.
BlueSwan’s music draws from the sounds of decades past through the modern day, a mix of analogue, acoustic and electronic, with the beautiful, deep and sensual voice of Orsola Fezzi, whose words describe a passion for life and the experience of being human in the world today. Orsola, a native of Venice, Italy, lives and works in New York City. On a glittering night redolent of downtown glamour and seediness, the model and performer crossed paths with fellow Venetian Marco Dianese and wandering Irishwoman Barbara Gogan in a gallery on Orchard Street. An instant bond was formed, and BlueSwan was born. The soundscape is created by layers of Barbara’s distinctive guitar and Marco’s unorthodox electronic instruments, released from the garages and basements of Russian and East European mechanical geniuses. He has also taken up the bass.
