Event information
NB: This is an AFTERNOON concert:
Merseyside hero IAN PROWSE is fresh off the back of three UK tours as the very special guest act for Elvis Costello, a phenomenal on-line FB show during the pandemic (40 episodes!) and his two best back to back albums since he began with the band Pele, back in 1991.
Pele signed to Polydor Records and promptly had a no. 1 hit in South Africa as well as UK tours with The Pogues, Del Amitri and the first three singles on the BBC Radio 1 playlist.
Ian then formed Amsterdam who had DJ - John Peel - weeping live on air every time he played the classic "Does This Train Stop On Merseyside?", which was then covered by the legendary Christy Moore and taken to no. 1 in the Irish album charts. Amsterdam signed to London indie Beat Crazy, their first single crashing into the top 40 at no. 32.
Often referred to as the 'Scouse Springsteen', Ian's incendiary live show has wowed them at Reading, Glastonbury, Beautiful Days & Kendal Calling festivals. He is very excited to be playing in Heswall for the first time.
Ian counts - Jean Jaques Burnel, the late Janice Long, Gary Crowley, Mick Jones and Chris Addison in the high-profile fan club of his songwriting.
The excellent Wirral-based folksinger Gerry Ffrench is the guest support act for this concert.
The promoters of this 'Day of Music' are pleased to announce that all profits will be donated to - Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, West Derby, Liverpool.
