Backroads House Concerts is delighted to welcome Chris Fox for our first show back after a winter of development and renovation. The Cambridge-based artist is an independent musician spanning the roots lexicon of Folk, Americana, Country and Blues, working magic with a loop pedal.
His naturally laid back, unostentatious style creates the perfect ambience for an intimate and inclusive live experience like Backroads, drawing listeners in with tales of the everyday and the unexpected.
Chris cut his teeth playing for pints in pubs, but he has come a long way from that. He released his first album "From the Shadows" in 2019 and his second, "In Plain Sight" in September 2022, to critical acclaim. He now plays folk festivals, clubs and theatres through the UK and Europe, as both a headliner and a support for acts including Fairport Convention, Peter Knight & John Spiers, Jim Moray, Trials of Cato, Boo Hewerdine, Brooks Williams, Lucy Ward, Grannies Attic, Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, Edwina Hayes and Ange Hardy. He has played the Cambridge Folk Festival three times.
Chris plays in a duo with John Parker (Nizlopi, Jackie Oates) on double bass and a trio with the addition of Toby Shaer (Cara Dillon, John KcKusker) on fiddle, but he will be playing solo for us tonight.
