Strings and Things
Step into the enchanting world of puppetry and learn to bring characters to life! Guided by award-winning puppeteers Nik and Sarah of Noisy Oyster, this workshop offers children an exciting opportunity to explore different styles of puppetry—from simple hand puppets to intricate string marionettes.
What’s in Store:
• Design a puppet: Get creative by assembling a character! Choose from a variety of eyes, mouths, and noses to attach to velcro heads, creating a puppet for you to play with in the workshop.
• Learn Puppetry Techniques: Work solo or team up with a friend to breathe life into your puppet, learning essential techniques to make them move, walk, and express emotions.
• Marionette Magic: Explore the fascinating world of string puppets (marionettes) and tabletop puppets using Nik’s range of innovative 3D-printed designs. Practice making them walk, dance, and perform realistic movements.
• Live Demonstration: Enjoy a short performance as Nik and Sarah demonstrate their trick marionettes from The DaSilva Marionette Circus—a rare and inspiring treat!
