The Best Band In The World (yes they really are!) are Martin on electric guitar, whistling and posters; Shaun on stand up bass; Mike on lead vocals and guitar. We are based around Walkley/Hillsboroughish - and you can often catch us playing at The Cobden View on a Thursday night with Steve, Steve, Rhodri, James, John, Phil, Paul, Ken, Cathy and Gaynor plus other friends we still keep in touch with but who since have moved on. You may also have seen us at Walkley festival and The Florist Pub in Walkley. We play high energy early Rockabilly, Rock and Roll covers (think Buddy Holly, early Elvis etc) plus a few originals.

On The Back Porch are fronted by Issy and Bob with Shaun on double bass. You may have seen Issy and/or Bob and friends in various guises such as The Outlaw Sisters and The Babchilds. They sing sometimes heartbreaking but mostly infectiously upbeat Western Swing/Country Folk/Americana - think Gillian Welsh and and a more cheerful Johnny Cash. We love their beautiful harmonies and fancy guitar playing. You may have seen them at numerous festivals, events and gigs including Walkley, Crossover, Marsden, Sweet Sunny South, Gloria Monday and Gainsborough. They have lived in Sheffield for many years and are very widely known in both Sheffield and the UK bluegrass, old time and americana/country folk end of country & western music scene.

Neepsend Big Night Out 1/2/25 is Sheffield’s premier variety entertainment night out with dancing in the Kelham area of lower Sheffield this year. We aim to provide a very welcoming, kind, friendly, professionally DIY amateurish and hopefully amusing night out where everyone feels as if it could easily be them up on the stage. There will be some fabulous music, beer, socialising and dancing from about 10 pm till 11 pm when we will push back some of the tables to form a dance space - so bring you crepe soles and spangley, rock and roll type outfits). Please tell everyone, bring your friends and have a fabulous evening regardless of whether you know band members/helpers/hosts or nobody - ALL welcome ! Oh - that brings me to our generous and friendly hosts Marion, Ollie and family who run the excellent Forest Pub, Rutland Road, Neepsend, Sheffield S3 9PA (on the edge of Kelham island). Marion, Ollie and family also run the Toolmaker’s brewery at 6-8 Botsford Street, Sheffield, S3 9PF (please google website) where they make a range of fabulous and favourably priced beer which will be on sale at the permanent bar in their 120 seater (at small tables) “village dance hall” (formerly a Toolmaker’s factory) with bar, stage, PA, lighting, toilets etc. Tickets only £5 each !! All proceeds go to performers and helpers and expenses. We hope to do more Neepsend Big Nights Out in 2025 but that will depend on how well this 1st one goes - see you there!
