Event information
A guiding light behind the success of the amazing Fisherman’s Friends, and still their manager, Ian W Brown has spent the last 20 years mostly behind the scenes in the music business. As well as co-writing Sandi Thom’s number one single ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’ and the lead song in the long running West End musical ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’, Ian has written songs for many other artists, from folk acts such as the Fisherman’s Friends and Show of Hands, to pop stars like Michael Ball and Pixie Lott. Ian only occasionally takes to the stage to play some of his songs that have graced the charts and so many more that haven’t. So this is a rare opportunity to catch him performing. His finely-honed everyman tales and self-deprecating musical outings are interspersed with tall tales from the music business, life, love, and the universe. Inspired by the ignominy of being confused with Ian Brown; the erstwhile lead singer of The Stone Roses, Ian's song 'The Other Ones' provides a poignant insight into the possible irony of sharing your name with a well-known pop artist. We are delighted to welcome Ian for his first visit to Uxbridge Folk Club.
